I’m a huge fan of Easy Digital Downloads. I love it so much that I featured it in my 2016 Thank a Plugin/Theme Developer post.
As a long-time user of EDD, it was one of my personal wish list for a role and capability integration between it and my Members plugin. And, today, I’m happy to be sharing this new add-on plugin with you all.
Capability Group

The add-on creates a new capability group that combines all of the Easy Digital Downloads capabilities into a single tab on the edit/new role screen called “Downloads.” You’ll no longer have to jump around from tab to tab to find a capability related to EDD because they’ll all be in one convenient place.

Like with other integrations, I also created a role group on the role management screen in the admin. This role group allows you to see all of EDD’s core roles as well as any other roles that have EDD capabilities.
Admittedly, I was unsure about the best user-facing label for this one. I decided to call it “Shop” because it was consistent with how EDD names its own roles. However, I’m open to feedback and changing this if others think it should be renamed.

As part of my tradition leading up to Members 3.0, I’m showcasing what the plugin looks like in the upcoming UI. It’s still a work in progress, but I’ll definitely have this out to you all sometime later this year.
